Sketching out the look of the water heater and its interfaces. Halfway though the project smart water heaters began to be introduced to the market. After sketching, it was decided to pivot to a retrofit solution to add features to older electric water heaters.
Prototyping electronics for the control of the water heater and interface. Exploring the intricacies of controlling a heater and screen over bluetooth.
A backlit edgeless screen concept. By hiding an LED 7-segment display behind a thin translucent panel, the screen completely disappears when off. This creates a magical screen look.
Demo Bluetooth electronics control water heater. Takes instructions from app and displays the temperature of the water inside, as it heats or cools. Can also display boot sequence and simple error messages.
